Air Show Thank You

Candlelighters is truly thankful for our wonderful friends at the Oregon Air Show! Each year they generously donate a number of tickets, allowing a number of our families to experience an unforgettable day of excitement!

Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to see the Air Show. We had never been there before and we all really enjoyed it. It was amazing, the kids ooohed and aaahed through the whole thing. We walked around some toward the end and there was so much to see and do. We all enjoyed seeing the planes up close and personal. My son’s, Dawson; who is 7, and Jaiden, who is 3 (diagnosed with Leukemia 6-15-07) wont stop talking about the parachuter (their favorite) and going back next year. I think that this will now be a family tradition. Thank you again.

Sincerely,
Carrie Curtis

Our Family wanted to send a special Thank You for donating the Air Show Tickets to Candlelighters. The Lunch was a nice bonus as well. We all really enjoyed the area reserved for us. It was up front and personal. Thank You so much. You will never know how much the activities donated to Candlelighters helps our family. Candlelighters have kept our spirits up during a very hard time in our life. It really helps keep our kids spirits up. So Thank You for supporting Candlelighters.

Sincerely,
The Flanery Family

Thank You TJX Foundation and T.J. MAXX Stores!

The TJX Foundation presented Candlelighters For Children With Cancer a $5,000 check! We thank them for their long-term commitment and thoughtful generosity to support our programs. Along with the foundation grant, the local T.J. Maxx stores have chosen Candlelighters as their charity. Through their in-house and community fundraisers Candlelighters will benefit by funds and awareness raised throughout the year.

Thank you Jan Brazeau, District Manager 3203, for rallying your troops and sharing the mission of Candlelighters with your team. We know you will all make a difference in supporting the needs of children with cancer and their families in our community!

The 2008 SHOW N SHINE Shined on Candlelighters

Candlelighters For Children With Cancer was the recipient of this year’s Star Chapter 146 Show n Shine presented by Bob Lamphere’s Beaverton Honda-Yamaha-Suzuki. There were competitions ranging from the loudest bike to the best in show and all participants had a great time! Through the generosity of their supporting dealer, especially Shari, they couldn’t have done it without her and her staff.  To Chapter 146 members, thank you for all the energy and dedication to making it such a special day for Candlelighters and Kennedy, our Candlelighters child representative, and her family. We really appreciate not only the incredible financial gift, but also the amount of awareness raised by this single event. A special thank you to Charlotte and Dennis Means, whose own extended family has benefited from Candlelighters program and services. Thank you for nominating Candlelighters to be this year’s Show n Shine beneficiary. Chris, from Chapter 146, you rocked on the mic and we are grateful for your constant reminder of Candlelighters mission and services. Thank you all!!!

Oregon Cancer Ski Out Gave a Generous Donation Again!

For the 5th straight year the Oregon Cancer Ski Out presented a financial gift to Candlelighters for over $10,000!!!  Their annual contribution to Candlelighters would not be possible without the passion and commitment of Larry Chadwick, founder of the Ski Out, Dick Woolley, Nancy Chin, the Ski Out board, and whole host of incredible volunteers. Candlelighters would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to this incredible organization and recognize their unique contribution to the lives of our children and families.

FOUNDATIONS GIVE BIG!  THANK YOU!

Candlelighters has been inspired by the extraordinary generosity of the Brian Henninger Foundation, and Silicon Valley Bank Foundation this past month. Their level of support does not go unnoticed. We celebrate them and their committees for choosing Candlelighters to receive a financial gift.

20th Annual Ski Out Best Yet!!

The Candlelighters Cancer Ski Out team of Peggy Meyer, Hal Meyer, Luke Meyer, Andy Mills, and Derrick Thune put in a heroic showing at this year’s 20th annual Cancer Ski Out. After a two-day battle that rewards grace, style, technical ability and consistency over speed (good thing!), our team recorded our best ever finish, placing 5th in a field of 30 teams. Wow!!!! Even more impressive, Peggy and Hal hosted an evening of dinner and wine tasting that raised over $2,500 in support of Candlelighters and the Ski Out. Our deepest thanks go out to our team, the Meyer family and their dinner guests, and Strategic Group for its generous corporate donation.

The Ski Out and its annual contribution to Candlelighters would not be possible without the passion and commitment of Larry Chadwick, Dick Woolley, Nancy Chin, the Ski Out board, and whole host of incredible volunteers. Candlelighters would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to this incredible organization and recognize their unique contribution to the lives of our children and families.
